My neighbor’s son, 45, QUIT his job after getting into a shouting/shoving match with a co-worker. Can he collect unemployment? Many, many years ago you could collect unemployment in California if you quit a job, however there was a longer waiting period before the money would start being paid out. He has worked all his life and has paid into this fund.
He has not worked for a year. Can he collect welfare?

If you can still receive unemployment, what would you mark in the “Did you look for work” box? After all, you wouldn’t be looking for work because you’ve accepted a job. Although, the stipulation of receiving unemployment is that you look for work.

I am currently am on unemployment and was offered a sizeable job $1500 to do a website. I would like to claim this but I am afraid of jeopardizing my entire claim. I have already reported on contract job for $500. I live in the state of california.
Thanks for your responses. I am happy to pay taxes and report this. I am worried, however, that this will cancel my entire claim. Since I don’t have full-time employment, this is a concern to me.

i returned to the country for my father funeral. company has policy of person leave of absence. i passed the 30 days and got approval “by words” from my manager, who was fired from his job. Then my company told me a different story that i quit due to no-show no-contact at work. it is not a layoff according to them. so i showed up at work this week and i lost my job. can i file for unemployment or should i sue my company for this? i did not…

What do I tell her so that they will let me go back to school rather than force me to go back to work? I am a mom, I have some college and I just would like to better myself and not jump right back into the stressful job thing. My job was killing me and I just want to stay home with my little one. Any ideas?

I am currently working at a full time job. I was notified I will be laid off. I have been offered a temporary job that may start before I am laid off at my other job. Will I still be able to file for unemployment?
My temp job would pay less than unemployment.

I’ve had my part time job for over a year and really needed the money from it. I currently still have my full time job. I was wondering if it’s possible (in Ohio) to get unemployment because of my part time job loss?
Any info would be very helpful! Thank you!

Especially by conservatives whom don’t have a *clue* as to what unemployment benefits are, how they are structured, and what it means to the jobless worker who is out of work and having to find another job?
Do they even know what a ’safety net’ really means?
