Learn HOW TO WRITE A RESUME : HOW TO WRITE A COVER LETTER : HOW TO LAND A JOB

I’m trying that https://my.studentjobs.gov site for more help on looking for a job and when filling out an online resume it’s required to put your social security number. Is it safe to put that on the site?

I wouldnt you have absolutely no idea who has access to those sites, its not worth the risk.

If the web site is locked. it is ok.Check at the top of your browser when on the website. If there is a lock it is safe

I would never use my social security number online. Try a different website that doesn’t ask you.

Generally, no, and normally I would say that’s a bad sign about the site, BUT (there’s the biggest three-letter word in the English language) this a .gov site. The US government isn’t in the business of identity theft, so I don’t suspect them of any funny business. And being the US Government and the fact that this is a student job site, they could be asking you for it for a legitimate reason — student loan tracking, or verifying your claim of being a student, for instance.

Without seeing exactly what they want it for, I would have to give it a conditional thumbs up.

    Hope that helps.
