If you can still receive unemployment, what would you mark in the “Did you look for work” box? After all, you wouldn’t be looking for work because you’ve accepted a job. Although, the stipulation of receiving unemployment is that you look for work.

You can receive UC because you are not getting any income. If it were me I would continue checking the “did you look for work box” as yes. Also, I would continue looking – maybe you will find something sooner.
I also was offered and accepted a job in February 2009 and promised I would start in a couple of months. I gave up waiting when they put me off again after a couple of months. I found and started a different job in June, 2009 but did not tell the first company just to see what would happen. Guess what? The first company has STILL NOT contacted me to start that job!
The point being, until the day you start collecting pay I would keep looking.
better keep looking for a job, and filing your unemp claim.
what if the job offer you have gets cancelled?
Call your local dept of labor I would think you can collect but to be safe call ad tell them you got a job but it doesn’t start for a couple of months I think they can advise you what to do. good luck
Although specific eligibility requirements vary from state to state, most states have the same basic standards for collecting unemployment benefits. They include:
-You must be unemployed or working less than full time
-You must meet certain income requirements
-You must be ready, willing, and able to work
-You must have involuntarily left your job
In general, you won’t be eligible for benefits if:
-You quit your job simply because you didn’t like it
-You’re fired for committing a crime (e.g., stealing)
-You’ve never worked before
In your situation, it seems to be qualified, but I’d recommend you to go ahead and call your local unemployment office, and get a clear answer.
